It's like I've been abducted by aliens....

....every mid-June to the beginning of August.  All the "non-essential" operations in my life get totally neglected.

note:  On snow days in the winter, UMaine employees get a text message that says something like "all non-essential University of Maine staff should stay home from work today"  LOVE being non-essential.  Thank you, all of you essential UM employees.

Why?  UB. Upward Bound.  One of the loves of my life, for sure.  However, we like to describe it as a summer lifestyle.  It's more than a job.  With 110 students living on campus, it is a 24/7 job.  Each day brings new learning, adventure, drama, poison ivy - well, you name it.

Staff training week.

Student orientation.  We like to play big, loud and silly games.

Where I spend most of my time - in the Residence Hall with the ResLife staff.

Ashley - a Senior Seminar student - shows her teacher (me) that she LOVES class!

Some day I'd like to blog more during the summer so that you all know about all of the wonderful and cool things that we do during a summer.  Maybe summer 2012?  This summer, though, trust me.  It was wonderful - and exhausting.  It usually is, for sure, but add a 7 month baby named Eli who still likes to get up during the night a couple of times.

Today, I'm in the office at Chadbourne Hall and we've put away most of the summer things until next June.  I'm in the midst of totaling an estimate of our summer dining and housing bill and other not-so-exciting end of the program stuff.  I hope to finish up and take Friday off and get to the business of enjoying some vacation time with the boys.

I've got some great photos of Noah and Eli - more about them in the next post!
